In the summer of 2010, I shot a wedding, "just for the heck of it" It was a beautiful day, someone I knew was getting married and it was time to be there for the couple.
After the wedding, I archived the footage. 5 years later, after I shot another wedding, where the couple I shot 5 years ago was present. After the wedding the wife called me and asked if I still had their footage from their wedding from 5 year prior. After looking through my archives, found and dusted off their precious 5year old footage. It was still as fresh as the day they wedded.
I always create portal access for my clients but in this case, I wanted to ensure that they had the footage and could share freely as they went out to see grandparents, parents and relatives in Germany. The day before their flight out, his wife came to pick up the footage. As I showed her glimpses of the footage, she cried....it was precious to see her watch, say nothing and yet say everything.
On September 27th 2015, we were graced by the awesome showing in the heavens. The moon was set from a four stage phenomenon that hadn't occurred since the 1980s. Even more exciting, this exact setup wouldn't show itself until 2033. At a time when my 2nd born son would be in University.
The night was beautiful, the company second to non. My babe, kids and I marched to a near by field just behind east-mint in Winnipeg. A favourite spot of mine for shots into the external world.
The stage was set with a beautiful clear sky and a bright full autumn moon.
The below shot is taken with my camcorder rolling on a digital zoom and the real moon on the background on your left. Love the duplicity of the shot.
(The near final act with a little light still sipping through. While looking at this I wondered what the taxonomy of the three structures (Sun, Moon and Earth were).
As it turns out, the Sun is largest, Earth next and Moon smallest. With such an arrangement of sizes, you would think that events like this would take place very frequently. Nope, the next time this occurs in a setup similar to this (super moon), is 18years from the year of this post.
Near full blood moon. As the blood moon procession completed, clouds came in as if to hide the weeping moon. Shortly after earth left side of the moon started eluminating, clouds cleared and we were back to a full moon with little cloud distractions.
The sights and sounds of lightning make me wonder and realize just how amazing our universe is.
This past week, Winnipeg was struck by multiple bolts of lightning. Early Friday night, the sky was light struck with flare and glamour from the heavens. It rained, and poured hard but the awe of lightning and the shudder echoing from the heavens took the early morning hours. So much such that I was compelled to trade some sleep for my 1kg f2.8 piece of glass to point into the Eastern side of the city for this.
